BROCKWAY MAN CHARGED WITH DUBOIS STABBING INCIDENT

February 24, 2010.  For Immediate Release.

DUBOIS – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced today that charges have been filed against a Brockway man for a stabbing incident that occurred in DuBois City.

Shaw identified the defendant as Howard J. Getz, age 40, of 5th Avenue, Brockway, Pennsylvania.

The criminal complaint, filed by Officer Randy Young of the DuBois City Police, charges Getz with: 1) Criminal Attempt to Commit Criminal Homicide, F1; 2) Aggravated Assault, F1; 3) Simple Assault, M2;  4) Recklessly Endangering Another Person, M2;  5) Criminal Trespass, M3; 6) Terroristic Threats, M1; 7) Disorderly Conduct, M3; and 8) Harassment, S.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Officer Young states that on January 3, 2010, at approximately 1:58 am, officers from the DuBois City Police Department were dispatched to the DRMC West hospital for a report of an assault victim seeking treatment for his injuries.  Upon arrival at the hospital, officers observed the victim with stab wounds.  The victim reported that he was stabbed multiple times while at the East Side Sports Bar in DuBois City.

FUGITIVE OF THE WEEK - March 8, 2010

Larry Rubly

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County's Fugitive of the Week for the week of March 8, 2010.

Shaw Identified the Fugitive as Larry Ray Ruble, age 37, of Brown Street, Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

Shaw stated that Rubly is wanted for failure to appear at Criminal Call on January 28, 2010.

On July 16, 2009, Officer Nathan Curry of the Clearfield Borough Police Department filed a Criminal Complaint charging Rubly with:  Possession With the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Felony; 2) Possession of a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor;  3) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor; and 4) Disorderly Conduct, Misdemeanor.

DUBOIS CITY RECEIVES GRANT

December 16, 2009.  For Immediate Release.

DUBOIS – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced today that Clearfield County has qualified for the  Recovery Act - Justice Assistance Grant.

Shaw stated that his office administers the JAG grant for Clearfield County.  In the spring of this year, the JAG grant was applied for in an effort to obtain funding for qualified municipalities to purchase police vehicles.  In August 2009, Shaw was notified that Clearfield County was awarded $60,224.00 in Recovery Act funds.

Shaw presented DuBois City Mayor John "Herm" Suplizio with a check in the amount of $15,036.00 to enable the DuBois City Police Department to purchase a new police vehicle.

Shaw said the grant award will help municipalities maintain the size of their current police forces without the need to downsize.  Police protection is extremely important and we all need to work together to recognize and maximize opportunities for obtaining funding, Shaw said.  Shaw further noted that the purchase of police vehicles will assist local auto dealers and suppliers of police equipment, as well as the auto industry in general.
